CINESCAPES 2020- Community & Cinema!

CINESCAPES 2020- Community & Cinema!

A Hyper Local film series projecting films across various Scottish Walls & online.

We love Cinema, you love Cinema & we love sharing Cinema together as a community!

It's been a tough year & COVID-19 has certainly hit the cinema industry hard.

Watching films on walls has been a great way for communities across the world to connect during this crisis. From Italy to Ireland to Germany, we've seen heartwarming images of people coming together while socially distanced through watching films from their homes & balconies.

The 'Cinescapes' project is exploring how we can connect our Scottish communities in a safe, fun manner. Whether it be in rural towns like Fife or densely populated  cities like our lovely Edinburgh, we'll be painting our walls with inspired films & involving as many local vendors as possible.

Think Wine + Cheese while watching a film in a park, or perhaps you'll nab a highly sought after restaurant window spot & get to have a sit down dinner while keeping your eyes on the walls!

So what exactly is 'Cinescapes'?

Cinescapes is a new hybrid film festival being brought to life in 2020!

Have a wee watch of the video to find out more....👇👇👇 but in a nutshell together with Cinetopia, Double Take Projections & Ostara Leith we're working to project several films across the walls of various locations in Scotland.. Sounds amazing? It will be!

CINESCAPES is backed by both extra funding by Creative Scotland & also NatWest (as part of the Back Her Business initiative). So please help us spread the word if you can!

Now we need your help!

Our Crowdfunder has a variety of REWARD options for you to peruse & offer your support through.
(*Warning* they might make you hungry!)

Want a private screening? Um, Yes please!

We can sort that out for you -— We'll bring the film + our projector & sound equipment to your block to create a bespoke hyperlocal screening for your own community.

*Available for locals who live in & around the Lothians and contingent on approval by local councils.

What about a large Film, Wine & Cheese Lover movie box? Of course.

We're partnering with Artisan Larder to create a wine & cheese hamper that you can order for a movie night in, one of our movie nights you choose to accompany the films we're showing. Included in the box is a bottle of wine, Scottish cheese, organic Scottish charcuterie, chutney, oatcakes and Mackies toffee popcorn

THE CONTRIBUTORS

Cinetopia

Cinetopia is a hub of activity around filmmaking and film-going in Edinburgh and beyond. Before March 2020, Cinetopia regularly ran community film screenings at Leith Theatre, documentary cineclub meetups in the Edinburgh Film Guild theatre as well as networking events for local filmmakers and film industry professionals. Cinetopia also ran its first outdoor film event at Custom Lane in 2019, Cinema on the Shore, serving up pizza and cocktails while showing the classic Italian film, Cinema Paradiso. We also recently set up an online portal to show films as well, now showcasing a series of documentaries around the idea of community. With community cinema and the film community at the heart of what we do, we plan to continue the work that we started in engaging local audiences in a time when our beloved home venues are closed for the time being by bringing the films to you.
